Price Changes: Introduction

The Price Changes module is the heart of Profit Manager. The initial screen is shown below.

Price Changes Screen

When you first see this screen it might seem pretty overwhelming, but lets break it down into parts...

Starting from the top is the menu. Then comes the grid of all the items selected by the Filter (3). In this case we are looking at all the Do it Best items we stock that are not discontinued. Across the bottom we have four panels and a group of buttons.

Grid Totals (1): Shows information about all the items in the grid. Notice I am currently stocking 11,677 items at a Total Cost of $191,262.13. They have a current Retail of $315,445.29 with a margin of 39.4%. The Do it Best Suggested retail is $301,193.10 for a margin of only 36.5%. You can see we also had $528,582.05 total sales for these items in the last 12 months. Again please remember, these totals are only for items in the grid which will change as you set a filter, but since there is no filter set, we are looking at everything we stock.

DIB Totals (2): Shows information about all the items we stock. In this case because we don't have a filter set the Grid Totals will be the same as the Do it Best Totals. The bottom two fields in this panel shows the "Projected Do it Best Sales Next 12 Mo" and the potential "Sales Gain/Loss" that may occur when make any changes.

Filter (3): Is where we control what is displayed in the Grid. We can filter items by Sensitivity, Price, Department (either Do it Best number departments or Do it Best Product Classification department), Custom, or Vendor.

Item Detail (4): Shows information about the item selected in the Grid. Image, SKU, Vendor, Description, Do it Best Product Classification, Costs, Retail, Margins, and even the Sales for the last 12 months. You can do a "what if" on an item and manually edit the retail to see what effect it will have on sales for this item and even total sales. This will be instantly reflected in the "# Changed" field if the "Grid Totals" and any "Sales Gain/Loss" will be displayed in the bottom field of the "DIB Totals" panel.

Buttons (5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10): All of the buttons except Post Changes (10) let you "what if". You can set some Custom Margins and immediately see the effect on the totals. You can Set the Retail to Do it Best Suggested (6), or you can Apply Price Rules (8) to all the items in inventory. Nothing will happen until you actually Post Changes (10). When you do post, you have the option print location tickets on your Dymo Printer.

Finally, you will find that Profit Manager gives you easy access to item detail in the "Pricing Module" and the "Turnover Module". Just double click on a row, or single click on the image. He instantly displays an "Item Detail" form like ROMAN uses as shown below. Only three tabs display meaningful information:

  1.     <Pricing Info> Item Detail Pricing Tab

  2.     <Ordering Info> Item Detail Order Info Tab

  3.     <Sales History> Item Detail Sales History Tab

So if you need to see the Point/Qty (Min/Max) or the Sales History of an item it is just a click away...
